A lot of the new trail shoe options on the market are built lightweight for fast non-technical terrain, lacking a rock plate and skimping on cushioning. Some go the other way with overly bulky stack heights and mattress-like volumes of cushioning.
The ASICS GEL Trabuco 10 stays true to its legacy with a much unchanged shoe suited to a variety of conditions and ready for marathons and even up to ultra trail distances.
3D printed details on a new upper design help keep the trail’s elements from entering the shoe’s interior. Varying densities of a ripple like silicon fabric are more prominent towards the outer sector of the upper where it makes contact with the midsole and gradually decreases towards the laces. This firming up of the upper offers structure and support around the whole shoe.
A 34mm stack height with a 8mm drop midsole is consistent with Trabuco 9 and consists of two ASICS midsole cushioning systems working in tandem to create a comfortable, versatile ride. Flytefoam makes up most of the midsole for adequate long run cushioning. The inner side makes use of the denser Duomax foam for extra support in this area of the shoe.
Gel is not just part of the name and you’ll find a rear foot GEL insert with technology to improve impact absorption and create a softer feeling at footstrike.
Terrain + Traction
The inclusion of a rock protection plate using a flexible design helps shield your foot from rocks and rugged terrain. The outer provides traction with ASICSGRIP outsole full-ground contact designed rubber that includes 5mm lugs and advanced grip technology for varying terrain.
Season upon season Trabuco fans come back for more of the same, and that is the best strategy towards happiness on the trails. They’ll be pleased to find the consistency is maintained with the Trabuco 10.
For newcomers looking for a neutral shoe with long range capabilities, the balance of cushioning, underfoot protection, and upper comfort, are likely to provide just what you need.
