Actor Shreya Dhanwanthary who has floored the audience with her performance in Scam 1992, The Family Man, and Mumbai Diaries will next be seen in the Amazon Prime Video’s anthology series Unpaused: Naya Safar. Following the overwhelming response of the first edition, Unpaused, which had premiered in 2020, the sequel of the Amazon Original anthology will offer five Hindi short films, each delving uniquely into the relatable challenges that the pandemic has inflicted on everyone while stressing the need to embrace a positive outlook as everyone welcomes the New Year.
Talking about her character in the film, Shreya Dhanwanthary told Bollywood Hungama, “I play the character of Kriti. She is one-half of the couple. She gets laid off from her company and that affects her and her partner as well. How else are you supposed to take out your frustration? How else are you supposed to take out whatever tumultuous feelings that you have inside of you? But that will be primarily directed towards your partner. So how do they navigate this? How do they support each other? And, and do they stay as a couple by the end of it? is what it is all about.”
All stories of Unpaused talk about people who have been affected by the pandemic in different ways. When asked about how the pandemic has changed her personally as an artist, Shreya said, “It has made me a lot calmer. I used to be a lot more frenzied when it comes to work and a lot of things. Now I’ve sort of adopted this very famous catchphrase called ‘ Chalo ye bhi thik hai’ because it is really true. That is genuinely I think a very sensible approach to life, just to roll with the punches and, be okay with the stuff that you can’t control and change whatever you can control.”
Talking about having limited time with her character has any change in the way she approaches a character, Shreya said, “Not at all. I think the only change is the amount of time spent on a set hour, the amount of time it takes to shoot, or the amount of time it takes to release. Logistics are the only things that differ, but regardless of whether it’s 30 seconds, 30 minutes, or an hour, I think how you approach a character should be the same and it’s a fun challenge to be able to represent something in a shorter duration of time.”
Shreya has been part of some of the best Indian web series of recent times including Scam 1992 and The Family Man. When asked how it has impacted her career, path, the actress said, “It’s been incredible. Honestly, these directors are all on my wish list. All the people that I have been working with whether it is Hansal Mehta, Raj and DK, Nikkhil Advani, R Balki or Sabbir, or Nupur Asthana, it’s unbelievable that these directors and these wonderful writers actually think of me when they think of their next story. So I am incredibly kicked and grateful that I got to work with them, and that they think of me for things, and I’ve admired them so much. It’s absolutely unbelievable that they have these stories and the parts that I played have been loved so much by the audience and I’ve been celebrated by them. I just hope I continue to give that to them and they continue to like the work that I do. I hope I continue to have these opportunities. Because it’s nice to be recognized. It’s nice for people to know that I exist.”
Post Unpaused, Shreya will be seen in Looop Lapeta, R Balki’s Chup, and Sabbir Khan’s supernatural thriller Adbhut.
