‘Game changer’ needed for pensioners in Australia

Chief Advocate for National Seniors Ian Henschke says reform is needed to assist pensioners in Australia.

Mr Henschke said 24.8 per cent of New Zealanders over 65 are still in the workforce, compared to 14 per cent in Australia.

“We should never forget that one in four pensioners live in poverty,” he told Sky News Australia.

“We need an increase in Commonwealth rent assistance. We need an independent tribunal to review the whole pension system.”
