TV presenter Karl Stefanovic was hoping to bank around $3.5m profit in just two years when he put his stunning Sunshine Beach home on the market last month,
Now the Today show hosts reckons he is glad he didn’t come close.
The Seaview Terrace home, just a minute’s walk from the golden sands of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland beach, was listed with hopes of a $7.5m sale.
Stefanovic and his wife Jasmine Yarbrough bought Villa Isabelle for $3.6m in January 2020 and settled just before the Covid pandemic hit.
According to reports, the couple spent around $1m renovating the home to their taste.
But after spending just five weeks in the multi-level home that boasts five bedrooms and five bathrooms over the last two years, they decided to put it on the market in March.
However the home struggled to reach its price expectations and two weeks ago there was no sale when the property went to its midweek auction, attended only by registered local and interstate bidders.
Since then the home has continued its existence as a $3700 a night peak holiday season rental, after the European-inspired Noosa pad featured in Vogue magazine last year.
The home had remained quietly for sale, according to reports.
However it now seems Stefanovic has pulled it from market, after a giant pang of seller’s remorse.
The Australian reports, that with state borders now open again post-pandemic, Stefanovic and his young family are glad they weren’t able to sell it and now plan on spending two weekends a month at the home.
“Karl has been very sanguine about it not being sold. The prospect of losing it has crystallised his belief that he needs to spend more time there. He loves the place,” The Australian reported a close friend of the family as saying.
