Left’s silence on the treatment of women called out

Outgoing Liberal MP Nicole Flint says she “couldn’t leave” parliament without “pulling it all together and putting it on the record”.

It comes as Ms Flint detailed the verbal abuse and harassment she experienced during her time in federal politics in a valedictory speech to parliament.

“We, as the federal government lead by Prime Minister Scott Morrison, have done so much to help protect women, to improve the treatment of women.

“It’s now up to Anthony Albanese to step up and finally do what he said he would do last March when I announced I was quitting and called on the left, particularly called on him (Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese) … to do better to protect all women, not just women on the left and he has miserably failed,” she said.
