‘Live and let live’: Commonwealth countries should be able to forge their own path

The Times’ political sketch writer Quentin Letts says Commonwealth countries have to be able to “decide for themselves” whether they want to leave the association.

“You have to let those countries decide for themselves,” he told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.

“And to try to resist that, or to try to impose our Royal Family as their heads of state as well would be entirely wrong and counterproductive.

“Live and let live, and let these countries decide for themselves.”
