‘Unacceptable and inexcusable’: Will Smith offers public apology to Chris Rock

Actor Will Smith has publicly apologised to Chris Rock in a post on his Instagram account, less than a day after assaulting him during this year’s Oscars ceremony.

Mr Smith shocked the world after he slapped Mr Rock after the comedian made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, who has the loss condition alopecia.

In a post published on Monday night local time, Mr Smith conceded that his behaviour was “unacceptable and inexcusable”

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behaviour at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally,” Mr Smith said.

“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong.”
